Comments: Swim is calm. Bike ride starts with a 15k 5 deg continuous climb and continues with primarily side and some nose and tail winds anywhere from 30 kph to 100 kph on rolling hills. Total climb is 2.6km. Run starts with a 12 km 700m descend.
This year (2012) was extremely hard due to extreem weather conditions. It was 2 deg in the mountains. Coupled with 45-50 kph side winds and bike speed, effectively temp was circa 8 deg below zero... Tens of triathletes were treated for hypothermia.
In summary, Israman is clearly an amazing and challenging Ironman. So if your looking for a true challenge, I recommend it!
